Description
Wine lovers, let’s have a fabulous day exploring family-owned wineries in the idyllic settings of the Peljesac peninsula!
Plavac Mali is an indigenous grape variety in this part of the Croatian coast and it is a relative of Zinfandel. On our stress-free tour, you will experience the scenic paths of the coast and the Peljesac peninsula, which will lead you to two family-owned wineries with tastings included.
The first winery we will visit is owned by a local family that has nurtured the tradition of growing grapes in an ecological way for generations. Enthusiastic owners will tell you how the wine has been traditionally grown in these areas and give a presentation on the wines and the specifics of their production. In addition, you will have the opportunity to visit the old part of the cellar, while the tasting will be held in a specially equipped room. Since the family is also growing olive trees, you will have the chance to taste their extra virgin olive oil, which won a gold medal at the prestigious New York International Olive Oil Competition in 2013 and 2014.
After a short drive, we will arrive at the next family winery in a beautiful natural setting. Your hosts will welcome you with homemade liqueurs, which are made on the basis of wine and various fruits. After a brief introduction, you will have a tasting of white wine and eco-certified olive oil with bread. After that, you will taste 2 different Plavac Mali red wines with prosciutto and cheese. Once you have absorbed all the scents and flavors, it will be time to say goodbye to your hosts.
On the way back, a stop will be made in the historic town of Ston, known for one of the longest defensive walls in Europe, as well as salt pans and high-quality oysters grown in Mali Ston area. Your guide will introduce you to the history and significance of Ston during the Dubrovnik Republic before your return to Župa dubrovačka.
