Less than a 30-minute drive from the border with Croatia, our trip to Trebinje will allow you to experience a different culture, where on many occasions you can see the contrast between the old and the modern way of life.
The first location we will visit is the Tvrdoš Monastery, which was built on the foundations of an ancient monastery dating from the fourth century. The monastery is located on the outskirts of the city, surrounded by vineyards cultivated by the monks themselves. After a short tour of the monastery, we will head to the monastery cellar, where you will be able to taste the excellent, indigenous wines produced by the monks.
After a short drive we will arrive in the old town of Trebinje where you will be able to explore the natural and cultural sights that this city abounds in; Eighteenth Century Osman Pasha Mosque, Catholic Cathedral, Clock Tower, Kaštel from the 18th century, Herzegovina Museum, green market, Sycamore tree square, Trebišnjica River and much more.
When you visited this picturesque old town, our journey will continue with a short transfer to the nearby modern restaurant and winery Vukoje. This family winery is located on a hill overlooking the old town of Trebinje and the nearby vineyards. Upon arrival, you will visit the winery and the 9m below ground level cellar, where you will become acquainted with the technology of producing top quality wines. You will then head upstairs to the elegantly decorated restaurant to taste award-winning indigenous wines with a small snack. Tours and tastings will be guided by the sommeliers of the winery, who will provide you with extensive information on the wines you will taste while enjoying the beautiful view of the city.
As the evening approaches, the trip will take us back to Croatia, while this discovery day in Bosnia and Herzegovina will come to its end.
